Insider's Escape to South Tyrol, Italy

Do you also know the feeling when you are going to work and think: "It's definitely time for a Sweet Escape!"? Well you are not alone with that feeling. But why not escaping in a different way this time? Why not putting the focus onto nature, culinary and culture this time? If you're in for a secret hideaway where you definitely won't be facing luxury and international atmosphere then head to the wonderful South Tyrol. Situated in the northernmost part of Italy and just south of Austria, this little piece of land is one of my absolute favourite regions in the entire world. Beside one exception you won't find any international hotel brand nor a fast food chain here. And that is what makes this place so special.

I have already written about the western part of South Tyrol (yes it's about the famous Merano Wine Festival, where we stayed at Castel Fragsburg, Chalet Mirabell and ImperialArt Hotel), but today I want to focus on a still unknown place: the Val Pusteria (Puster valley). Nestled between the majestic Dolomites, the centres of this valley are Bruneck and Innichen. One of the most unique places to stay is the Zenana - a slightly different boutique hotel. Totally original from the outside, it's about the interior that makes is so special. Every room is designed in a different way and each of them feels like an own century. However what I appreciates most is the modern design of the bedroom and the magnificent views of the mountains as well as the pure and fresh air you get during the night while sleeping with open windows.

Get yourself a ticket to Innsbruck, Austria and start discovering a truly hidden place - a personal favourite of mine, when we are looking for something else than a luxury hotel.
