Unforgettable Spa Experiences at Interalpen-Hotel Tyrol

The moment you realize that life is about to collect perfect moments

That moment when I was the only one swimming in the vast outdoor pool among snowcapped mountains, I realized I have everything I could ever wish for. Appreciation of life is the essence.

A few weeks ago, on a cosy January weekend when the winter blues hit us, we escaped the big city life and headed to the Interalpen-Hotel in the Tyrolean Alps. Reachable within two hours from Munich, it may take a little longer from Zurich (about three hours) and four hours from Vienna. Having reported about the phenomenal Interalpen-Hotel in a separate article already, we now want to highlight our spectacular experience in the 5.300 square meter spa area. The original plan of the weekend was to have a casual dinner on Friday, ski all day on Saturday and have a vast breakfast on Sunday before heading back to Munich. However, sometimes things don’t come as planned and recently, my life takes unexpected turns more often. This way, instead of carving down powder white slopes underneath the Azur blue sky, we ended up spending the entire picture-perfect Saturday in bathrobes in one of Austria’s most spacious hotel spas. How did we end up like that?

I couldn’t imagine anything better than starting the day with a sumptuous breakfast before changing into the fluffy bathrobes and heading down to the spa. Making sure to get our preferred treatment times, we pre-booked them about one week before check-in. My colleague went for the two-hour Signature Treatment while I chose the 45-minute shoulder-neck therapy. Having had treatments all over the world, one can say we have seen quite a bit in terms of spa offers. As a member of the prestigious Leading Hotels of the World, our expectations towards the Interalpen Spa were quite high. Currently, they sell the Signature Treatment for 395 euros and the shoulder-neck therapy for 89 euros. Both of which is quite fair considering international levels. From my point of view, the therapists were knowledgeable, respected our privacy during the treatment and fulfilled our expectations towards the treatment. In terms of the Signature Treatment, we didn’t know what to expect so were very surprised by the dedication of two therapists treating one person simultaneously. The Signature Treatment started with an aromatic Swiss stone pine bath followed by a detoxifying body wrap with roots from the region. Afterwards, the two therapists provided a soothing facial and foot massage before the main highlight started: a four-hand massage completing the “Tyrolean Sensual Delight” as the hotel calls it.

Generally, the Interalpen Spa is split into three areas. First, you have the pool area with the Olympic-sized indoor pool, a heated outdoor pool with unparalleled panoramic views and the textile sauna area underneath the spa restaurant. At the end of the majestic looking marble corridor, you can find the newly refurbished spa & beauty area with the treatment rooms, cosmetic studio and ladies spa. Walking down the stunning marble staircase you can find the spacious relaxation room to your right, while the sauna area is located on the left. The entire sauna area is designed like a typical Tyrolean village, boasting two Finnish saunas, two steam baths, a bio sauna and a Swiss stone pine infrared room. Even at rush hour, when the other guests returned from their ski trips, the spa didn’t feel crowded any time of the day which is a great plus in post-pandemic times. What I found a very lovely touch was the fact that the hotel arranges candle-light swimming each weekend. Overall, I found the spa to be very generous and can say that it was worth staying here the entire Saturday – we also didn’t get bored at all and always discovered something new. In case you’re up for a special treat, don’t miss the opportunity to book a room at the Interalpen-Hotel and get yourself pampered and recharged.
