24 Hours at Domes White Coast, Milos

Milos has quickly established itself as one of the most desirable luxury destinations in the Cyclades. From its moon-like beaches and picturesque fishing villages to some of the clearest turquoise waters in the Aegean, this island is on every discerning traveler’s radar. It still retains the raw, authentic charm that Santorini and Mykonos had decades ago, yet it now offers world-class hospitality that caters to a design-conscious clientele. Among the island’s growing roster of luxury properties, Domes White Coast Milos stands out as the most sophisticated. Perched on the north coast of the island, it offers panoramic views over Sarakiniko’s otherworldly landscape and delivers a striking combination of minimalist Greek architecture and contemporary design. Originally opened as a small boutique property, the resort was recently taken over by Domes Resorts, which has since elevated it into a high-end, all-suite retreat where every room comes with its own private pool. As part of a ten-day island-hopping journey through the Cyclades, we only spent one night at Domes White Coast. Short as our stay was, it proved to be the perfect introduction to Milos—a hotel where design, comfort, and attentive service converge seamlessly.

Arrival and First Impressions

Our arrival set the tone for the experience. At the entrance, we were warmly welcomed by Christina, the front desk manager, and her attentive team. The greeting was both professional and personal, with an air of genuine hospitality. Within moments, we were offered refreshing towels and a chilled fruit juice, the perfect antidote to the midday heat. Check-in was conducted in a relaxed, seated setting, giving us time to breathe in the serene atmosphere of the resort. The formalities were completed swiftly, and to our delight, our suite was already ready—an hour before standard check-in time. This proactive touch immediately elevated the welcome. The layout of the property is intimate and easy to navigate. The main pool is located just steps from the restaurant, while a longer, secondary pool stretches elegantly across from the front desk. With only a handful of suites, the hotel retains a sense of exclusivity and calm, even in high season.

Our Suite – Horizon Meets Design

We were assigned a Deluxe Horizon Pool Suite, the entry-level category, though “entry-level” hardly does it justice. Domes White Coast has cleverly designed its accommodations so that almost every suite feels equally impressive, with identical design language and layouts across most categories. Opening the door to our suite, we were immediately struck by the abundance of natural light streaming through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The interior followed an open-plan concept, with the shower housed in a striking glass box at the center of the room. From here, one can look directly out towards the Aegean Sea, creating a rare sense of connection between interior design and the surrounding landscape. The welcome amenities were thoughtful and generous: a chilled bottle of Greek rosé sparkling wine, a box of fresh fruits, local sweets, and breadsticks. It felt celebratory, setting the tone for what would be a memorable stay. The room’s centerpiece was the bed—a large, plush double with exceptionally comfortable pillows and linens. It was, without question, the best bed we experienced during our 10-day trip. Opposite the bed was a writing desk beneath a large flatscreen television, cleverly doubling as a vanity or work station. Wardrobe space was somewhat limited, though additional hangers could easily be requested. A practical luggage rack that doubled as a seat added flexibility. In the evening, turndown service was performed with care, replenishing towels and placing fresh bottles of water by the bedside. This small but appreciated detail reinforced the property’s focus on attentive service.

Bathroom and Amenities

The bathroom design emphasized both functionality and aesthetics. The spacious walk-in shower with glass walls felt airy and modern, while a single vanity with ample counter space provided room for personal items. The toilet was housed in a separate enclosed room, a thoughtful feature for couples traveling together. Amenities were provided by Naxian Apothecary, a Greek brand used across the Domes portfolio. While I wasn’t entirely enamored with the fragrance, I did appreciate the local connection and eco-conscious approach of reusable bottles. Towels were thick and plush, perfectly complementing the resort’s luxury positioning. But the true highlight was, of course, the private infinity pool. Waking up and sliding into the cool water before breakfast was an unforgettable experience. Later, at sunset, we enjoyed a glass of wine on our terrace, the pool reflecting the fading orange light over Sarakiniko. It was a moment of serenity and beauty that will stay with me long after leaving Milos.

Experiences and Events

Domes White Coast distinguishes itself with a curated program of seasonal events and culinary experiences. During our stay, we attended the Sunset Oyster Night, a stylish evening combining sparkling wine with freshly shucked local oysters. Hosted by an exceptionally attentive server, the event unfolded against the backdrop of the sun sinking behind the sculptural cliffs of Sarakiniko. As the light shifted from orange to deep red, the whitewashed architecture of the hotel seemed to glow, mirroring the surreal beauty of the landscape itself. Dinner that evening took place at Makris Restaurant, the hotel’s fine-dining venue. This outpost of the Michelin-starred Athenian restaurant of the same name is a highlight in its own right. We began with a tuna tartare and a modern take on the classic Greek salad, both fresh and refined. What followed were two outstanding pasta dishes: ravioli filled with beef and Orzo with seafood. Both were among the best pasta dishes I’ve ever enjoyed in Greece. For the main course, we shared a beef fillet with truffled mashed potatoes—a rich, indulgent plate that paired perfectly with a local red wine. The service throughout the evening was attentive without being overbearing, striking just the right balance of professionalism and warmth.

Breakfast – A La Carte Elegance

After a truly restorative night’s sleep, we returned to Makris for breakfast. Unlike many resorts where mornings begin with crowded buffets, Domes White Coast offers a fully à la carte breakfast service. This set the tone for a leisurely, unhurried morning. Guests may select two main dishes—one savory and one sweet—plus a breakfast set menu of either Continental or Greek style. The sets include breads, butter, jams, fruits, and cold cuts, ensuring variety and balance. I chose chicken breast on avocado toast, beautifully presented and light yet filling. My colleague opted for a Croque Monsieur, a generous portion that delivered on both flavor and comfort. Croissants, fresh fruit, and cappuccinos rounded out the meal. Service mirrored the attentiveness of dinner, with the same team providing a seamless and personalized experience.

Final Thoughts

Though our stay at Domes White Coast Milos lasted only one night, it left a lasting impression. The combination of sleek design, intimate scale, and thoughtful service makes it one of the most compelling new properties in the Cyclades. Highlights included the generous welcome amenities, the best bed of our Greek trip, the serenity of a private pool with sea views, and the culinary excellence of Makris Restaurant. For couples seeking a design-oriented retreat on Milos, this resort is an exceptional choice. The architecture is minimal yet luxurious, the experiences are curated with care, and the overall atmosphere is tranquil and romantic. If you’re planning a journey to Milos and want to combine the island’s raw natural beauty with contemporary elegance and refined comfort, Domes White Coast is the place to stay.
