Restaurant Review: Hotel Atlantis, Las Terrenas

After a short ride from Sublime Samana to the Atlantis hotel in the city of Las Terrenas we arrived at this wonderfully situated place. The restaurant was all outside under a straw roof that had roughly ten white covered tables. We were welcomed and seated by a lady who was one of the three waiters. After a view minutes our waiter arrived - he was a very friendly French guy. The whole team was directed by a French team, which is very interesting considering the main language in the Dominican Republic is Spanish.

My starter was a crab tartar with super fresh crabmeat topped with sliced avocado. I didn't know before, but they have a lot of avocado trees in the Caribbean countries. My colleague had a duo of fish carpaccio - tuna and swordfish with fresh grapefruits. A simply perfect combo!

As a main course we chose the fresh lobster with potato gratin, butter sauce and fresh vegetables. The lobster was very soft and had around 1,5 lbs. If you are a lobster lover, it is definitely recommendable to try this dish here. Bear in mind that there is an official season for lobster fishing you can't eat lobster from first of march till 30th of June.

Our wine choice was a 2014 Sancerre from France which matched perfectly to the fish and seafood. At the end we had a very good dark rum from Dominican Republic. All in all we had a great evening at a very good restaurant and a place not to miss when on Samana.
