Restaurant-Check: Le Cirque, New Delhi
Often referred to India's most exclusive restaurant and officially the most expensive one, Le Cirque seemed to be the best place to celebrate the birthday of my colleague Lukas.
Having had high expectations, we have to say: Thats a kind of a dinner to start a wonderful holiday! Upon the Limousine arrived at the main entrance, we were kindly welcomed by the duty manager and shown the way up to the gourmet restaurant! As soon as we have taken place a server congratulated my colleague and handed us over the menus. Perfect Italian dishes, like you can only get it in Italy. Water arrived and then the amuse has been served.
For amuse bouche we got a chilled fruit soup of sweet pepper.
The first course was really like an appetizer in a beautiful place in Italy! We got finely slices of San Daniele ham served with Parmigiano topped with some balsamico of Modena. My colleague Daniel had a beautiful decorated insalata "Caprese" with excellent bufala mozzarella and peeled tomatoes. An amazing way to start the Italian dinner in the mid of Delhi!
Let's move on to the warm starter: Homemade linguine with king crab - the best I have ever had ;-) and a risotto with lobster topped with capers and fresh Italian herbs. Indeed everything was perfect and the price was absolutely perfect when it comes to the taste and quality.
As a second and main course we shared a honey roasted duck breast served with sauteed vegetables, truffled mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was sliced directly in front of us. The duck was accompanied by a 2013 Pinotage from South Africa - one of my favorite wines.
A chocolate soufflé with espresso ice cream as well as fresh strawberries with homemade vanilla ice cream have been our desserts and of course they gifted me with a big birthday cake - which they also packed for take away! A long and unforgettable evening at the private pool of our luxurious hotel room at The Lodhi followed.
