24 Hours at the Soho House, Barcelona

Only a small sign indicated that we were at the right place – the SoHo House certainly knows what understatement means. We were quickly helped with our luggage and told that our room was unfortunately not ready yet – which we almost expected as it was not even noon. A short stroll through the gorgeous neighborhood and two excellent gin tonics at the pool later it was time for us to explore our accommodation for the night . Located on the 3rd floor we found ourselves in a petite yet extremely stylish and especially well thought-out room. Featuring a Marshall music box, fresh lemons & limes to fresh up your drinks from the minibar (a lot of variety in there as well ;-) ) and several interesting magazines are just some good examples of the attention to the detail.

The bathroom review needs to be divided up in two parts, the facility itself and the amenities provided. While the bathroom itself was also really well designed I missed some storage space and we had a few issues with our shower. Those issues were quickly forgotten as we discovered all bathroom amenities. Only the shower was already stocked with 10 (ten!!!) different 300ml shampoos, conditioners and body wash, all provided by “Cowash” – really heartbreaking not to take any of them home. ;-)

The SPA which is located on the lower level off the hotel is really unique. A barber shop, a hairdresser and several beauty treatments are available on your demand. We were exclusively invited to try out a massage and it certainly did not disappoint. Although we were unable to use the pool as it was way to cold, the treatment itself and the atmosphere were truly relaxing. The SPA area is relatively compact, though you should keep in mind that it is a city property and therefore certain limits apply. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to use the gym which was equipped with the state of the art technogym machines.

The rooftop terrace with an additional pool is one of the highlights of this property. About 400 square meters chill and relax zone with matching music. The bartenders really know what they are doing and there is always someone roaming around to see if you might need anything!

The SoHo House concept itself is pretty easy and you will either way love or hate it – members only. While the small lobby is accessible to the public, all other areas are reserved for their members and special rules apply. (such as no pictures – not our favorite rule when you are supposed to review a hotel :p)  As we visited a few days after the opening, we could not access all areas, though event space, a cinema and a huge restaurant will open soon (the latter also for public).

The next morning we headed to the House Kitchen to get breakfast. While I was already convinced by the concept at that time, I immediately knew why SoHo House Barcelona is so popular – they have access to the best coffee in town. Our made to order eggs were reasonable priced, yet portions were on the smaller side, but again, the coffee was great so it didn’t really matter. It took a few calls to reconfirm our late check-out and after soaking up some more sun (especially fun in November) it was already time to leave the property.

The team of Travel Executive was guest of the Soho House for Editorial purposes, however as you can read, the review has not been influenced by that.
